Gov. Perry signed Texas’ controversial anti-abortion bill this week. It reduces the amount of time an abortion can be obtained to 20 weeks, and its restrictions on clinics only leave 5 abortion access points in the state (which oddly enough feed funds to Perry’s sister – a surgical center consultant). I don’t know why any women choose to live in Texas at this point. It is laughable that a state with such a dismal human care record as Texas (lowest in WIC, lowest in welfare spending, lowest in education, highest in executions, and biggest hair) can say they are a “pro-life” state. At best, they are pro-birth, and at worst - they are selling the rights of Texas women to make decisions of about their lives in order to please the religious fringe and raise funds. It’s appalling. The only family values Rick Perry shows is lining his own family’s pocket.
